Xiaomi launches Mi Notebook Air, a cost effective version of Macbook Air

Chinese company Xiaomi has unveiled its first ever Windows laptop, Mi Notebook Air and the laptop has already been compared with Apple’s Macbook Air. The laptop bears similarity with the high profile exquisite laptop of Apple in terms of appearance and features. Two different sized devices have been launched- one with 12.5-inch screen and the other with 13.3-inch. Both the laptops are thinner and lighter than Macbook Air.

Specifications of the 13.3-inch model

  •  13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air with full HD displays. 1,920 x 1,080 pixels with pixel density of pixel density of 165 pixels per inch (ppi) .
  • Intel Core i5-6200U processor (up to 2.7GHz)
  • NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU (with 1GB GDDR5 RAM).
  • Storage: 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, 256 GB of SSD via PCIe.
  • One empty SATA slot for Xiaomi-serviced memory expansion.
  •  40Wh battery and it’s been reported that the device charges to 50% in just half an hour.
  • USB Type-C support.
  • Other features include backlit keyboard, dual AKG speakers, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI port, a 1 MP webcam and a stylish metal construction with no pesky logo to put a sticker over.
  • It weighs 1.28 kg.

  • Price: 4,999 Yuan ( approx. $750)
  • Can be unlocked by Mi Band 2 via Bluetooth

Specifications for 12.5-inch Notebook Air model

  • 12.5-inch model with full HD Display,  1,920 x 1,080 pixels with pixel density of pixel density of 176 pixels per inch (ppi) .
  •  Intel Core M3 CPU with no dedicated GPU).
  • Storage: 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB SSD via SATA  with one free PCIe slot.
  • Only one USB 3.0 port
  • Other features include HDMI and dual AKG speakers. This model is reportedly good for 11.5 hours of battery life.
  • It weighs 1.07 kg.
  • Color: Silver, Gold
  • Price: 3,499 yuan (approx. $520)
  • Can be unlocked by Mi Band 2 via Bluetooth
The device will roll out in China on August 2, 2016. Right now there is no news when the devices will be launched in other countries.
