Magazine Signed By Steve Jobs Fetched $50K At Auction

The headline of the magazine reads “Mr. Chips. Steve Jobs Puts The ‘Wow’ Back In Computers”, It was related to magazine cover story which revolved around Jobs and his First NeXT Computer. You might be wondering what is so unique about the magazine with Steve Jobs autograph.

Diane Williams of Escondido, California met Steve Jobs when she was working as a senior buyer for the software company Lotus Development back in October of 1988. She and Jobs met at the unveiling of the NeXT Computer. She went to Jobs for an autograph to which he responded that “I don’t do autographs.” Williams then asked Jobs to “write something from the heart then.” This won over Apple’s co-founder, and he wrote “I love manufacturing” on the cover of the Newsweek magazine.

Diane Williams wants the magazine to be put on display for the world to see:

“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that I would let it go. But it needs to be let go,” she said. “I hope that it’s going to be an organization or an institution that puts it on display for others to be able to see.”

“It needs to be honored [through the purchase],” she said. Plus, she quipped, “Nothing’s free — especially what they charge.”

It is not the very first time when Steve Jobs autograph has gone on sale. Previously signatures went from $19K to $40K. But this season the “I love manufacturing” encode and story to back it up led it to the price of 5,329,340 PKR. The winner was known person from Chicago.

Steve Jobs BMW Z8 will also be auctioned in December via New York-based firm. The iconic car is expected to cost around 3-crore to 4-crore PKR. It will be an exciting auction for sure.
